KIA Stonic to Go All-Turbo in MY25 with New Safety Features and Higher Pricing
Are you ready to experience the power and convenience of the all-new turbocharged Stonic?
KIA Australia has exciting news for all the Stonic fans out there! The upcoming MY25 Stonic small SUV is set to go all-turbo, bringing a range of new safety technology and convenience features. However, this upgrade comes at a cost, as pricing is expected to increase in the cost-sensitive segment.
The current Stonic lineup starts at $22,290 (plus on-road costs) for the base model S 1.4-litre petrol manual. If you prefer an automatic, you’re looking at an additional $1500. Meanwhile, the 1.4-litre Sport grade with manual transmission begins at $25,290 (plus ORC). Add another $1500 if you want the automatic version. Finally, the range-topping GT-Line comes in at $30,790 (plus ORC).
In addition to the changes in specifications and trim, the major difference between the lower grades and the flagship model lies under the hood. The MY25 Stonic will be equipped with a downsized 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This powertrain will soon be available across the entire lineup as the current 1.4-litre engine is being discontinued globally.
Kia Australia’s general manager of product planning, Roland Rivero, has confirmed that the revised Stonic line-up will continue to offer three grades, all of which will be turbocharged. Additionally, the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will be standard across the range. According to Rivero, the MY25 model will also introduce new features such as blind-spot collision avoidance to stay competitive in the market.
The Stonic is currently a significant product for Kia, accounting for over 11 per cent of their sales. While the loss of the Rio small hatch, on which the Stonic is based, is unfortunate, Kia Australia is committed to providing small and affordable options for Australian buyers. Kia Australia CEO Damien Meredith emphasized the brand’s dedication to selling models like the Picanto and the Cerato, as well as expanding their electric vehicle sales.
The Kia Stonic holds an important position in the brand’s lineup as its most affordable SUV. In fact, it has been performing well in terms of sales. In the first two months of 2024, the Stonic has seen a solid 38.4 per cent increase in sales compared to the same period in 2023.
- MY25 Stonic will be all-turbo and feature new safety technology and convenience

Exciting changes are coming to the KIA Stonic with the MY25 model. The decision to go all-turbo and introduce new safety features will surely attract even more attention to this budget-friendly SUV.
